The American Pigeon Museum and Library features several permanent exhibits including our collection of live birds! Weather permitting, the museum features twelve different breeds of pigeon.

 

Additional permanent museum exhibits: Pigeons in Wartime, The History of Pigeon Racing, A Shadow Over the Earth: The Life and Death of the Passenger Pigeon, Project Sea Hunt: Pigeons and the Coast Guard. Check back soon for a detailed list of the museum’s archival and library collection that will be available soon for research by appointment

HOMING & FANCY

This exhibit details the major difference between fancy and homing pigeons!

EXHIBIT 2:

WAR HISTORY

Learn about the important role pigeons played in warfare. During the First and Second World War pigeons were used to transport messages, and thirty-two pigeons received the Dickin Medal of Honor. 

EXHIBIT 3:

RACING

We have an entire room dedicated to the history of pigeon racing! This exhibit includes items from our Charles Heitzman collection and large collection of pigeon racing clocks.
