Experience the Museum

The American Pigeon Museum and Library features several permanent exhibits including our collection of live birds! Weather permitting, the museum features twelve different breeds of pigeon.

 

Additional permanent museum exhibits: Pigeons in Wartime, The History of Pigeon Racing, A Shadow Over the Earth: The Life and Death of the Passenger Pigeon, Project Sea Hunt: Pigeons and the Coast Guard. HOMING & FANCY

This exhibit details the major difference between fancy and homing pigeons!

EXHIBIT 2:

WAR HISTORY

Learn about the important role pigeons played in warfare. During the First and Second World War pigeons were used to transport messages, and thirty-two pigeons received the Dickin Medal of Honor. 

EXHIBIT 3:

RACING

We have an entire room dedicated to the history of pigeon racing! This exhibit includes items from our Charles Heitzman collection and large collection of pigeon racing clocks.
